The Radical Question

It’s time to catch up – I’ve been reading, but not getting around to posting, so there will be a little flurry this weekend as I hope to catch up.

First, a quick read: David Platt’s The Radical Question (almost a lengthy booklet, to be fair). One of several books emphasizing the radical nature of Christian discipleship. It ends up being very motivational in that direction, which can be good. But then I struggle to balance this with a bit more of reformational worldview with regard to culture. Don’t I serve God by enjoying this world He created and doing all the culture things he made us for? Yes, but…

An unending tension, I fear.

For a somewhat parallel discussion, you can look at this video discussion between John Piper (warfare lifestyle) and Doug Wilson (a little broader cultural view).
