Millennium People

Finally finished J. G. Ballard’s Millennium People yesterday. Interesting social commentary and philosophical questions are raised throughout. What gives our lives meaning (since religion and other traditional resources aren’t available)? The empty middle class life of work and family devolves (at least for a while) into random and meaningless acts, which create meaning. Or does it? Provocative in many ways and ultimately not particularly satisfying for those who believe there is real meaning.
