For a class I’m teaching, finished Allah by Miroslav Volf this week. It’s a very thoughtful read and offers a lot of insight on the historic and current status about Islam and the differences between Christianity (of the mainstream orthodox variety) and Islam (similarly of the mainstream orthodox variety). The personal story of Volf strengthens the force of his argument; and I think the historical material is valuable. His discussion of the trinity is also quite thoughtful and intriguing (particularly his interaction with Islamic critiques of the doctrine). I’m sure his isn’t the final word on these issues, but it is well worth a read.
