By Heresies Distressed

Today I finished David Weber’s By Heresies Distressed. It’s third in the Safehold series with lots of discussions about religion (there’s a kind of parallel to the Reformation). It’s retro science fiction (if there’s such a term); while based in the future, most of the action depends on older technology. In that sense, it has some similarities to the 1632 series from Eric Flint. The style does give Weber a chance to do actual naval battles (he does space battles with lots of naval flavor in his Honor Harrington series, but these are the real thing). I enjoyed it, at least.
